Koobideh kabob, joojeh kabob, and tahdig (crispy saffron rice).
Drew's take
“Today we are at one of the landmark food destinations in LA, Raffi's Place, the first country on our list, which is Iran. A family run restaurant since 1993, started as a small courtyard spot and now a Glendale institution.”
Drew Nagda, from the Iran episode on Instagram
Episode 1, where the whole series started, with a two year old Ezra as the announced star of the show. Drew's notes from the reel: LA has the largest Iranian population outside Iran; the tahdig is the crispy saffron rice from the bottom of the pot, flipped out as a golden disk with real saffron; and the Sultani kabob, one skewer of marinated filet (the barg) and one of ground beef (the koobideh), is the most popular plate on the menu and the one Ezra loved most. The joojeh, chicken breast on a skewer, was solid.
