🇲🇦 Morocco and 🇪🇬 Egypt Episode 9, filmed

What to order

Wagyu beef cheek tagine over koshari rice, Moroccan carrots with rose pickled beets and feta, chermoula grilled turnips, baba ghanouj with dukkah, hummus masabacha, eggplant tempura, and the wood fired pita and laffa.

Drew's take

“Two countries, one restaurant, highlighting North Africa and maybe my new favorite restaurant in all of LA. They put a Moroccan tagine over Egyptian koshari rice, and that restaurant is Bavel.”

Drew Nagda, from the Morocco episode on Instagram

Episode 9, filmed for Ezra's birthday with Drew's sisters in town, which is how they ended up ordering most of the menu. The star was the wagyu beef cheek tagine, braised in a pomegranate and cinnamon sauce over koshari rice, Egypt's national dish. Also on the table: Moroccan carrots with rose pickled beets and feta, grilled turnips with chermoula, baba ghanouj topped with dukkah, the hummus masabacha, wood fired pita and laffa, and an eggplant tempura Drew calls toddler friendly. His caption says it plainly: Bavel may be our new favorite restaurant in all of LA.
